Punjabi Natak Academy (Regd.) was founded in 1958 for the promotion of Punjabi Theatre Art & culture by Late. S. Charan Singh Sindhra.
CHARAN SINGH SINDHRA, Born on 1st Jan. 1932 in Lyallpur City (FAISLABAD ,Pakistaan ) .His uncle S. Amar Singh was a revolutionary poet at that time, so he is an artist from his childhood. Migrated to Amritsar in 1947. Studied at Khalsa College, Amritsar. Then he join V.J. Hospital as Lab.tech. There he carry on his theatrical activities for 12 years. S. Partap Singh Kairon then chief minister of Punjab when observe his talent he took him to Punjab Public relation Depart. as a Drama Inspector. Serve that deptt. till 1990 at retired as Deputy Director ( Song & Drama)/ Founded Punjabi Natak Academy at Amritsar in Sept. 1958 to part training to new artist. In 1975 PNA shifted to Mohali and is still producing new plays , ballets, Musical scores, documentaries, Pbi. feature films and New artistic talent/ He was a State Award y in theater , a lyricist, a drama writer, a folk singer, folk dancer, an actor, a composer, and of course a never tired Artist.
